  • Development of high yielding, early maturing, flowering resistant varieties of jute & allied fibre crops with biotic and abiotic stresses tolerance/resistance and improved fibre quality through utilization of existing and new germplasm pool
  • Standardization of efficient and remunerative jute & allied fibre based cropping systems and to develop low-cost, eco-friendly production and protection technologies for those systems using locally available inputs
  • Development of agro-techniques to address the problems of drought/ waterlogging stress in jute and mesta
  • Standardization of IPM technology for pests and diseases of jute &mesta emphasizing the antagonists, new generation pesticide with special mode of application and specific cultural practices based on survey on pest status
  • Standardization of microbial retting technology based on location-specific microbes for fibre quality improvement
