Other extension activities to popularize the technologies developed
Farmers participating approach through seed buy back arrangements through conductance of adaptive trials at KVK office campus, Kisan Melas, Gosthies and some audio-visual aids.
- Development of high yielding linseed varieties with genetic yield potential of 2 t/ha.
- Short duration (100-105 days) varieties to mitigate the impact of terminal moisture stress in central and peninsular region and cover rice-fallow land in eastern states.
- Genetic modification of fatty acid profile in order to develop designer linseed i.e. highlinolenic acid (HLA) for industrial and medicinal use and low linolenic acid (LLA) for use as cooking oil.
- Horizontal expansion of linseed in rainfed rice fallow land of eastern India and NEH region.
- Enhancing seed replacement rate to ensure the availability of quality seed.
- Technology transfer.
