Rice Root-knot Nematode – Meloidogyne graminicola 

  • Paddy seed soaking for 12 hours in 0.1% carbosulfan/monocrotophos solution. 
  • Nursery treatment with carbofuran/cartap/phorate @ 0.3g a.i./m2.
  • Soil application of Pseudomonas fluorescens @ 20 g/m2 in nursery bed at sowing. 
  • Incorporation of neem cake @ 100 g/m2 15 days prior to sowing. 
  • Application of carbofuran /cartap @ 1 kg a.i./ha at 10 days after sowing of paddy. 
  • Soil solarization of the nursery bed with 25μm polythene sheet for 15 days + Carbofuran (soil application) @ 1 kg a.i./ha.
  • Rice Root Nematode – Hirschmanniella mucronata / H. oryzae 
  • Two to three deep summer ploughings after pre-monsoon shower. 
  • Inclusion of groundnut/black gram/mustard in rice based cropping sequence. 
  • Application of carbofuran/cartap @ 0.3 g a.i./m2 in paddy nursery as well as in the main field @ 1 kg a.i./ha at 40 days after transplanting.
  • Foliar Nematode 
  • Hot water treatment of paddy seeds at 54o C temperature for 15 minutes followed by foliar spray of carbosulfan (0.01%) at 40 days after transplanting. 
  • Paddy seed soaking in carbosulfan (0.1%) solution for 6 hours followed by foliar spray of carbosulfan (0.02%) at 40 days after transplanting.
  • Root-knot and Reniform Nematodes 
  • Two to three deep summer ploughings after pre-monsoon shower. 
  • Inclusion of cereals/mustard/sesame/marigold in vegetable based cropping sequence. 
  • Nursery treatment with carbofuran/cartap/phorate @ 0.3 g a.i/m2. 
  • Bare root dip of brinjal/tomato/chilli seedlings in 0.05% carbosulfan solution for 1 hour. 
  • Dipping of planting material of parval (pointed gourd) in 0.05% carbosulfan solution for 6 hours.
  • Application of neem/karanj oilcakes @ 1 ton/ha in the main field. 
  • Seed dressing of bittergourd/cucumber with carbosulfan DS @ 3% a.i w/w. 
  • Nursery treatment (brinjal/tomato/chilli) with either Trichoderma viride formulation (FYM incubated) @ 2.5 g/m2
  • or Pseudomonas fluorescens formulation @ 20 g/m2
  • Recommended resistant varieties for root-knot nematode
  • Tomato: BT-1, BT-2, BT-17, Sel.-120
  • Brinjal: BB-44, BB-45C, Ghatikia white
  • Chilli: BC-21-2, Pusa jwala, Agnirekha, Suryamukhi
  • Reniform and Root-knot Nematode 
  • Seed dressing with carbosulfan @ 3% w/w. 
  • Seed dressing with Trichoderma viride @ 10 g/kg seed. 
  • Seed dressing with Neem Seed Kernel Powder @ 10% w/w.

Root-knot and Foliar Nematode 

  • Use of healthy bulbs, free from galls. 
  • Dipping of cleaned bulbs in 0.05% carbosulfan solution for 4-6 hours. 
  • Field application of carbofuran/cartap @ 1 kg a.i./ ha. 
  • Foliar spray of carbosulfan/monocrotophos @ 2 ml/l at 2 months after planting (2 sprays at 15 days’ interval).

Root-knot Nematode 

  • Application of either carbofuran or cartap @ 0.3 g a.i./m2. 
  • Dipping of pared suckers (Removal of black surface coat) in mud slurry mixed with carbofuran 3G @ 20 g/l of slurry followed by drying of suckers in shade. 
  • Paring followed by hot water treatment of banana suckers at 55° C for 20 minutes with application of carbofuran 3G @ 16.6 g/pit and neem cake @ 1 kg /pit.
