Objectives

  • To study the persistence/dissipation of pesticides in crops through multi-location supervised field trials in different agro climates following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to work out the safe waiting period, approval of label claim and fixation of Maximum Residue Limit (MRL)
  • To monitor various agricultural produces/commodities and environmental samples (soil, water) for possible presence of pesticide residues
  • To develop and validate simple, sensitive and cost effective analytical methodology for quantification of pesticide residues in different components of the environment
  • To study the decontamination of pesticides in different food commodities
  • To maintain up-to-date information on pesticide residues and to provide guidelines to research and extension workers in the country
  • Create awareness and to educate and train the farmers, extension workers and other stakeholders on safe and judicious use of pesticides
  • Generation of quality data by maintaining continuous NABL accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17025
  • Human Resource Development to upgrade the knowledge and skills in the area of pesticide residues by conducting regular training programme
