To collect, evaluate and conserve the vegetable biodiversity that exists in different agro-climatic zones of the country
To develop improved varieties/ hybrids resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses through multi-locational testing of mandated vegetable crops
To develop appropriate production technologies for selected vegetable crops
To develop and standardize appropriate protection technologies for major diseases and insect-pests
To standardize seed production technologies for mandated vegetable crops
To monitor breeder’s seed production of released / notified varieties
To act as a national repository of scientific information relevant to vegetable crops
